Dole Plantation

The Dole Plantation can fall into the tourist trap category. That being said if you are driving home from the North Shore and need to stretch your legs or are looking for facilities, add the stop. Our son loved riding the train, aptly named the Pineapple Express, that takes you on a narrated 20 minute ride through the pineapple fields.  He had an even better time feeding the large Koi that live in a pond in the gardens. There is also a huge hedge maze older children may enjoy. For our family, the best part of this stop is the frozen pineapple yogurt that you can purchase in the gift shop which is a nice treat on a trade wind absent day.  The gift shop also sells local coffee, arts and crafts from local artists and, of course, lots of pineapple bottle openers, t-shirts, hats and other souvenirs! Facilities available.  Entrance to the country store is free but the train, garden, and maze all have small fees.  The plantation is open from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm daily.
